Another Stimulus Check For $1400 Coming
This might sound like a contradiction of our previous estimation that a fourth stimulus check wont become a reality. This new payment that were referring to definitely counts as check #4, but and hear me out its also not really the kind of fourth check we were referring to. Lets just go ahead and call this one Schrodingers stimulus payment.
Lets also briefly talk about what we meant with our prediction. Were specifically referring to the potential of Congress approving a bill funding a new round of stimulus checks, along the lines of the first three .
The current child tax credit checks dont count, because they were already funded out of the March $1.9 trillion stimulus law. And because theyre really one-half of an advance payment of a 2022 tax credit. Meanwhile, there is another stimulus check coming for some of you in 2022, according to Fortune magazine. So, what gives?
Will I Receive A Stimulus Check If I Pay Child Support Or Am In Arrears
If you are on the Treasury Offset list for owing child support arrears or if your child support payments are more than 90 days delinquent, your 1st stimulus check will probably be reduced by the amount you owe in child support. You should contact the Texas Attorney General Child Support Division in order to work out arrangements to resolve your debt. To find out if your name is on the Treasury Offset list call the toll-free IRS number at 304-3107.
The 2nd and 3rd stimulus check will not be reduced if you are on the list for owing child support payments. You will still receive the full amount you are entitled to receive.

How To Make Sure You Receive Your Credits As Soon As Possible
The Recovery Rebate Credit worksheet requires that you know the specific amounts you were supposed to receive, according to the IRS. By doing the investigation and calculation work in advance, youll most likely end up getting your stimulus check and tax refund faster.
To get it correct, that cannot be overemphasized, Steber says. These Recovery Rebate Credits are real cash, and they sent out hundreds of millions in the two tranches. If you did in fact receive it and forget about it, it could add weeks to your tax return timeline.
Your tax refund will be passed more quickly and safely if you electronically file and provide a direct deposit, the IRS says.
Typically, the IRS is good at sending out refunds within a couple of weeks within electronically filing, Bronnenkant says.
Not included in 2020s Recovery Rebate Credit is a third stimulus payment worth $1,400 or more, distributed to Americans beginning in mid-March after President Joe Biden signed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan. Taxpayers will most likely have to wait until 2021 to claim those missing relief payments, Jaeger says.
Vaccine Effectiveness & Omicron

Expert studies have shown that the risk of severe illness from Covid-19 is reduced by 90 percent or more among people who are fully vaccinated.
While there are breakthrough cases of Covid among people who are vaccinated, they are rare.
In the event of a breakthrough case, victims are highly unlikely to be hospitalized with severe or deadly symptoms from the virus.
Health officials have advised that the Omicron variant is more infectious and could lead to further breakthrough cases.
Yet the spread can be offset by all vaccinated Americans receiving a booster shot.
Current vaccines are expected to protect against severe illness, hospitalizations, and deaths due to infection with the Omicron variant.
With other variants, like Delta, vaccines have remained effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalizations, and death.
Studies have also shown that side effects from the vaccine are extremely rare.
CDC data shows that after seven days, the risk of transmission is drastically reduced.
“In that five-to-seven-day window, you know, there’s some depending on whether people have been vaccinated, underlying conditions, etc., but the risk drops a lot and the feeling is that in the general population, combined with masking, etc. the risk really is very low,” Arwady explained.

Check The Get My Payment Tool
The IRS website has been uploading data for your third stimulus payment into a tool on its website called Get My Payment. If your information has been updated, you’ll be able to see the date you can expect to receive your stimulus payment, or the date it was deposited or mailed. You should also be able to see whether your money was direct deposited or whether you’ll be receiving the payment by mail.
Many people are seeing a message that says either the IRS doesn’t have enough information yet or you aren’t eligible for the payment. This message doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t eligible for the payment. This information may be updated this coming weekend.
Here are some of the issues people are seeing, either with their actual deposit or with the Get My Payment tool.
When Will I Get My Stimulus Check

How Much Is The Third Stimulus Check
If you are eligible, you could get up to $1,400 in stimulus payments for each taxpayer in your family plus an additional $1,400 per dependent. That means that a family of four with two children could receive up to $5,600.
Remember, just because you are eligible, does not mean you are eligible for the full $1,400.

What To Know If You’re A Nonfiler And Don’t File Your Taxes
If you’re a nonfiler and typically aren’t required to file income taxes, you’re eligible to receive the third stimulus check. However, if you’re missing money from a previous check you may need to take an extra step to get your money by filing your taxes this year. If there’s an issue receiving some or all of a third check, it’s likely you would need to file a claim during next year’s tax season.

Do I Need To Do Anything To Get A Stimulus Payment
The payments are automatic if you:
- Filed a 2019 or 2020 tax return.
- Receive Social Security retirement, survivor or disability benefits , Railroad Retirement benefits, Supplemental Security Income or Veterans Affairs benefits.
- Registered for the first payment online at IRS.gov using the agencys Non-Filers tool by November 21, 2020. OR

Your Adjusted Gross Income Is Too High
There are three dollar figures to be aware of in terms of the stimulus payments: $1,200 will be given to individual taxpayers, $2,400 will go to married couples filing jointly, and families will receive an additional $500 per qualifying child under the age of 17. Those numbers only apply to certain incomes, though. Individuals with adjusted gross income up to $75,000, married couples filing jointly with AGI up to $150,000 and heads of households with AGI up to $112,500 will receive the full amount of stimulus payments. Keep in mind that AGI will be based on your 2019 tax return, or 2018 if you havent filed yet.
Groups that make more than those AGI figures, however, start falling into the phase out category, which means the stimulus amount granted goes down as AGI goes up. Individuals and households will be paid $5 less per every $100 they make over the limits. The total phase out amounts, meaning the AGI is too much to qualify for a stimulus check, are $99,000 for single filers and $198,000 for married couples filing jointly, or $136,500 for heads of households.
To give you an idea of how the phase out works, here are estimates of stimulus amounts for different filing statuses and income amounts. Keep in mind that each qualifying child under the age of 17 will add an additional $500 to these stimulus amounts. The payment for children begins to phase out , after the payment to adults has completely phased out.

You Receive Your Ca Tax Refund By Mail
California began issuing batches of stimulus payments by direct deposit back in late August but only started sending paper checks out by mail earlier this month. As a result, those who typically get their state refund through the mail should expect a delay possibly even through the new year.
Additionally, where you live can also affect when you get the payment, as mailing times are based on the taxpayers last three digits of their ZIP code.
The Franchise Tax Board provided the following timeline of when it expects mailed payments to go out:
Last 3 digits of ZIP code/mailing time frame
- 000-044: Oct. 6 through Oct. 27
- 045-220: Oct. 18 through Nov. 5
- 221-375: Nov. 1 through Nov. 19
- 376-584: Nov. 15 through Dec. 3
- 585-719: Nov. 29 through Dec. 17
- 720-927: Dec. 13 through Dec. 31
- 928-999: Dec. 27 through Jan. 11, 2022
Still Don’t Have A Stimulus Check Here’s How To Track Yours

May 12, 2021 / 3:35 PM / MoneyWatch
While major banks in the U.S. started delivering $1,400 stimulus checks in March, the federal relief payments continue to arrive at millions of households struggling to make ends meet amid the coronavirus-hobbled economy.
The Internal Revenue Service has delivered more than 165 million payments, with a total value of approximately $388 billion, the agency said Wednesday. The latest round includes 1 million payments, with the IRS noting they have an official payment date of May 12. That means the most recent recipients will receive a direct deposit on Wednesday, or soon get a paper check or pre-paid debit card in the mail.
The timing and delivery of checks has been a cause of anxiety for some people, especially for those who receive government benefits such as Social Security and don’t typically file taxes. The IRS prioritized sending checks to people who have already filed their 2019 or 2020 tax returns, since the agency was able to quickly verify eligibility based on income and also determine where to mail or direct deposit the checks.
The agency said it’s sending another 500,000 payments to eligible people who recently filed a tax return but for whom it didn’t previously have information to issue a stimulus check.

Debt Collectors Have Taken Your Payment
The problem: Could it be your money was garnished by private debt collectors? The first check was susceptible to seizure of many varieties, including if you owed past-due child support payments. The latter wasn’t true for the second payment, except in cases where recipients didn’t get a check and need to claim a Recovery Rebate Credit on their taxes. For the third check, private debt collectors are able to confiscate your stimulus payment.
What to do: If you think there’s been a seizure or a mistake, you’ll need to start by reaching out to your bank or credit union. You may have a small window of time to put a hold on the seizure.
If you’ve moved, let the IRS and USPS know.
You Mistook Your Stimulus Check For Junk Mail
In the first two rounds of stimulus payments, many Americans mistook the stimulus check payments sent via mail. As the envelopes were unfamiliar and were not clearly marked, they threw the mail away. This time around, the white envelopes that will be sent out will be marked with the seal of the US Department of Treasury. If you are receiving a card, the EIP card will be issued by MetaBank N.A. and will have the Visa logo on one side. You have to watch out carefully for these envelopes to avoid lost or stolen stimulus check payments.

I Do Not Make Enough To File A Tax Return Or Do Not Have An Income Am I Eligible
Yes, if you do not file a tax return and you do not get Social Security Retirement, Social Security Disability, Survivor Benefits, or Railroad Retirement Benefits, then go to www.irs.gov and click non-filers- enter your payment info here. If you do not usually file a tax return and didn’t get your Stimulus Check, you may be able to file a tax return for 2020 to get your Stimulus Check. You should check with a tax professional. You can call Pine Tree Legal Assistance.
My Address Changed How Can I Tell The Irs
Many people moved in 2020, which means if you are one of those expecting a mailed check or pre-paid debit card, you may be concerned about the payment reaching you.
Unfortunately, the IRS’ “Get My Payment” site doesn’t allow people to update their addresses. Instead, the IRS is urging people to file their 2020 tax returns with their current address.
However, given that the deadline for filing 2020 tax returns has been pushed back to May 17 from its typical April 15 cutoff, there are likely millions of people who haven’t yet filed their tax forms and aren’t likely to do so before the IRS distributes most of its checks.
The IRS said that payments that can’t be delivered to eligible people will be returned to the tax agency. If that happens, the IRS’ “Get My Payment” site will show you a “Need More Information” message, which will then allow you to enter direct deposit information or ask for the stimulus check to be delivered on a pre-paid debit card.

Why Havent 30 Million Social Security Ssi Recipients Gotten Stimulus Checks
In the past two weeks, the IRS has sent out about 127 million stimulus checks. But the payments that have already gone out were based on 2019 or 2020 tax returns. If you receive Social Security or SSI and you also file a tax return, you may have already gotten your third stimulus check.
But millions of people who get Social Security, SSI, Railroad Retirement System or VA benefits dont need to file a tax return. The IRS gets the information it needs to process stimulus payments from the appropriate agency, including direct deposit information, with no action required from the recipient.
The IRS asked the Social Security Administration for updated bank account and address information for recipients back in late February, two weeks before the $1.9 American Rescue Plan became law. But Social Security didnt fork over that information until March 25 after a 24-hour ultimatum from the House Ways and Means Committee. The VA and Railroad Retirement System delivered the same information earlier this week.
In short, the IRS now has the information it needs to make your payment if you receive federal benefits. But as of March 29, it still hadnt announced when you can expect to receive your check.
An Economic Impact Payment FAQ on IRS.gov states: More information about when these payments will be made will be provided on IRS.gov when the timeline is finalized.
