When Will I Receive A Direct Payment
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Thursday after the signing that some checks will start being deposited in bank accounts as soon as this weekend. Others may take longer, depending on a few factors.
- As was the case with the last two stimulus checks, direct-deposit recipients are likely to get their checks the fastest. As CNET notes, direct deposit payments began registering in accounts about two weeks after the last stimulus package was passed. But per Psaki, it could be even faster this time around.
- Physical checks are expected to take about a week longer than direct deposits, and should begin to go out starting March 29 or so.
- Economic impact payment, or EIP, cards could take the longest. The prepaid debit cards may begin to go out the week of April 5, depending on when the stimulus package is signed into law.

What If I Dont Have An Address
Shelters and other service providers, such as health care clinics and drop-in day centers, may allow you to use their address for tax purposes. Other agencies that offer homeless prevention services like a Community Action Agency or Salvation Army are also options. If you are not staying in a shelter or cannot find a service provider nearby, you can also use a trusted relatives or friends address. The IRS will deliver checks to P.O. boxes.
People Who The Irs Doesn’t Know About
The IRS will automatically send a third stimulus payment to people who filed a 2019 or 2020 federal income tax return. People who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Railroad Retirement benefits, or veterans benefits will receive a third payment automatically, too. However, if the IRS can’t get the information it needs from your tax records, or from the Social Security Administration, Railroad Retirement Board, or Veterans Administration, then it can’t send you a check.
However, if you don’t get a third stimulus check now, you won’t lose out on the money if you’re eligible for a payment but you’ll have to wait until next year to get it. You’ll be able to claim the proper amount as a Recovery Rebate tax credit when you file your 2021 tax return, which is due by April 18, 2022 .

How Does The Irs Calculate Eligibility For The Third Stimulus Package

Once calculated, the sum will be transferred to you using the information provided in your tax return. Will Future Relief Efforts Fill In These Gaps
Congress is negotiating the next aid package. Senate Republicans propose $600 billion to refund the PPP. House Democrats would like to include a $60 billion plan to fund community development financial institutions. The bill also includes additional funding for extended unemployment and health benefits. It would add funds for hospitals and community health centers. Income Limits For Stimulus Checks
You are ineligible for stimulus payment if you earn more than the income limit. That applies to anyone whose reported adjusted gross income for tax years 2018 or 2019 was at least:
- $99,000 for individuals and married couples filing separately
- $136,500 for heads of household
- $198,000 for married couples filing jointly
You will receive a reduced payment if your income is lower than the limit, but above the following thresholds:
- $75,000 for individuals
- $112,500 for heads of household
