Can I Track My Stimulus Check
Yes, you can track your stimulus check. The IRS has set up a web page that allows you to track your stimulus check. When you visit the Get My Payment page, youll be asked to enter some personal information.
After you enter your Social Security number, birth-date and address, youll get a message regarding your stimulus check.
The message will tell you one of four things:
- Your stimulus check has been scheduled to be deposited into your bank account
- Theres been a check mailed to you
- Your payment is still in process
- The IRS cannot determine your eligibility for payment at this time
You may need to contact the IRS if you need more information, but expect a long phone wait if you do.
Check The Status Of Your Stimulus Payment
You can now check the status of your 2021 Economic Impact Payment in the Get My Payment tool.
All first and second Economic Impact Payments have been sent and will no longer appear in Get My Payment. If you didnt get a first or second payment or got less than the full amounts, you may qualify for the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit and must file a 2020 tax return even if you dont normally file.

How Much Money Will I Get
Right now, stimulus checks for qualifying individuals are $600. Qualifying couples will receive $1,200 and qualifying dependents get $600.
The size of your stimulus check is based on your adjusted gross income , which is your total income minus adjustments like standard or itemized deductions. Adults with AGIs up to $75,000 per year and couples earning up to $150,000 per year will receive $600 per person. The income cap for heads of households to get the full $600 is $112,500.

Your payment decreases by $5 per $100 you make above the threshold. If youre an individual who makes more than $87,000, you wont get a payment. If youre a couple with an adjusted gross income of $174,000 or more, or a head of household making more than $124,500, you wont get any money.
And yes: Depending on your income, you could receive a stimulus check for as little as $5.
To determine your adjusted gross income for 2019, look at line 8b of Form 1040 on your 2019 U.S. Individual Income Tax Return.

Unclaimed Federal Tax Refunds
If you are eligible for a federal tax refund and dont file a return, then your refund will go unclaimed. Even if you aren’t required to file a return, it might benefit you to file if:
-
Federal taxes were withheld from your pay
and/or
-
You qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit
You may not have filed a tax return because your wages were below the filing requirement. But you can still file a return within three years of the filing deadline to get your refund.
How Much Stimulus Money Will I Get

The IRS stimulus checks are distributed in varying amounts depending on your Adjusted Gross Income line from your tax return. If you qualify for the maximum payout amount, youll get $1200 for yourself and $500 for each dependent child under the age of 17.
That could add up to a lot of money if you have younger kids.
If the IRS has your 2019 tax return processed, theyll use those numbers to determine your payout amount. If it doesnt, theyll use your 2018 figures to determine the payout amount.
And, if you usually file taxes, but havent filed for 2018 or 2019, the IRS suggests you file those returns as soon as possible. Doing so will help you get your stimulus check faster.
If youve made over the income limit that qualifies for the maximum payout , you could still get a smaller check.
However, if youve made over the maximum limits for the stimulus check benefits, you wont get anything.
The maximum AGI limits for the program are as follows:
- $99,000 for singles
- $198,000 for couples
- $136,500 for heads of household
If your adjusted gross income is at or above these amounts, you dont have a check coming. Again, the government uses the Adjusted Gross Income line to determine your income when it comes to stimulus benefit amounts.

The Irs Tool Might Say Your Payment Was Sent To You
If the IRS’ online tool says the agency has issued your stimulus money, but you have no record of it in your bank account and it never arrived in your mailbox, you may need to take one of these steps, including possibly filing a stimulus check payment trace. You’ll need to have the letter the IRS sent you.
Keeping Track Of The Stimulus Check
The majority of the recipients will get their payment through direct transfer to their bank account. But people who filed their income tax returns after 20 august last year can expect a waiting period of up to 45 days to allow their returns to be processed before they get their stimulus payment.
People who want to know wheres my second California stimulus check as they are yet to receive it even after 45 days. But the mailing of the payment began on October 4 and was expected to run through December 2021.
But getting a paper check will depend on the ZIP code of the recipient. The tax board has stated that if the income tax return has been processed post the date of the scheduled ZIP code check payment, it could take even up to 60 days.

Will The Irs Reload A Prior Pre
Some people who received one or both of their first two stimulus payments on a pre-paid debit card may wonder if the IRS will reload that card with the $1,400 for the latest round of payments. The answer is no, the IRS says.
If the IRS now has bank account information for you, it will send the money via direct deposit. If not, it will either issue a check or a pre-paid debit card, but the latter will come in the form of a new card, the tax agency said.
People should look for a white envelope with the return address “Economic Impact Payment Card” accompanied by a U.S. Treasury Department seal. The card says “Visa” on the front, and the issuing bank, MetaBank, on the back.
Stimulus Check Round : Is A Second Round Coming
A second stimulus package was officially presented on the Senate floor in late July as the HEALS Act, but the timing of when it might arrive is still in limbo.
In addition to $1,200 direct payments, the HEALS Act continues federal unemployment benefits , offers a Paycheck Protection Program sequel for business loans, and provides more funding to help schools and COVID-19 testing, treatment and vaccine research.

Wheres My 3rd Stimulus Check
The IRS is sending stimulus funds throughout 2021. If you havent received your payment yet, dont assume you wont ever get it.
You can check the status of your stimulus check using the IRSs Get My Payment tool, which updates once a day. It will show you when and how your money is being sent, either direct deposit or through the mail .
If you get a not available status message, the IRS says youre either not eligible for a third stimulus check or your payment hasnt been processed yet. If you get a need more information message, you can enter your direct-deposit details to speed up your payment.
If you didnt qualify for the third check based on 2019 income but thats the most recent return the IRS has for you, file your 2020 return as soon as you can. Your payment will be sent once the IRS has processed your return.
If you arent required to file a tax return because your income is too low and you didnt register using the IRS nonfilers tool last year, you will need to file a 2020 tax return to get any of the stimulus checks.

You Get Social Security
Social Security recipients and people receiving Social Security disability benefits or Railroad Retirement benefits are eligible for stimulus checks, and they do not have to file taxes in order to receive a payment. However, if anyone in these groups has a dependent under age 17 and does not file taxes, they should add that information at the IRS’s “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” page in order to get an extra $500 per child.
The first people to get stimulus checks are those who have filed tax returns and have their direct deposit info on file with the IRS. People who receive Social Security or the other benefits mentioned above fall into a second category, and they will receive their payments in the next wave of deposits from the IRS. These people can expect their payments to show up in their bank accounts by the end of April, if not sooner. On the other hand, if federal agencies do not have your bank info on file, your payment will come in the mail as a paper check, and that process could take much longer.

How To Use Irs ‘get My Payment’
The IRS also updated frequently asked questions Saturday on how to use the “Get My Payment” tool, which requires users to enter their full Social Security number or tax ID number, date of birth, street address and ZIP code.
But before you start entering your information hourly, the IRS says the tool updates once per day, usually overnight and that people should not call the IRS. Our phone assistors don’t have information beyond what’s available on IRS.gov.
The tool will show the status of when a payment has been issued and the payment date for direct deposit or mail, according to the frequently asked questions. Some will get a message that says “Payment Status Not Available.”
“If you get this message, either we have not yet processed your payment, or you are not eligible for a payment,” the IRS said. “We will continue to send the 2021 Economic Impact Payment to eligible individuals throughout 2021.”
And others will get a “Need More Information” message when using the tool if the payment was returned to the IRS because the post office was unable to deliver it for another reason.
If your address has changed the IRS says the easiest way to update is to “file your 2020 tax return with your current address, if you havent already done so. Once we receive your current address, we will reissue your payment.”

How Soon After Requesting A Payment Trace Will Your Stimulus Check Arrive

You should get a response from the IRS about six weeks after the agency receives your request for a payment trace, according to its website. But this could be delayed due to limited staffing.

When Will Your Stimulus Check Arrive
The stimulus payments are being distributed to taxpayers either by direct deposit or by paper checks or debit cards arriving by mail. If youve been paying your taxes via direct deposit, the IRS should already have your banking information on file and will make the payment directly to your bank account.
For direct deposit, the IRS uses data already in its system to determine which bank account to send the payment to. That most likely happens by attaching a routing and account number to your 2020 or 2019 tax filing, as well as inputting one earlier in 2020 for receiving your first stimulus check. Those receiving payments by mail will have to wait a little longer.
This round, the Treasury Department is also working with the Bureau of the Fiscal Service to identify federal records of recent payments to and from the government to find a possible bank account alternative for delivering stimulus payments as a direct deposit. The move helped accelerate the stimulus check delivery timeline, the IRS said in a statement.
In most cases, individuals arent required to take action to receive their checks and are discouraged from contacting the IRS, according to a Treasury Department release.
The IRS and Treasury Department anticipate sending out more tranches on a weekly basis moving forward.
Ssi Recipients Should Get Their Checks Next Week
Stimulus payments to Social Security recipients and other federal beneficiarieswho do not normally file a tax returnhave suffered delays but are expected to go out this week and should be received on Wednesday 7 April.
If you haven’t signed up for direct deposit with the IRS, the quickest and easiest way to make sure they have your contact details is with your current home address. If your payment cant be delivered to you for any reason, it will be returned to the IRS.
If that happens, you must request that your payment is reissued into your bank account by direct deposit. This can be done through the Get My Payment tool on the IRS website. Get My Payment is the only option available to get your payment status the Wheres My Refund and Online Account tools will not provide the status of your Economic Impact Payments.

What If Im Not Required To File Taxes
If you havent filed your taxes for 2019 or 2020 and werent planning to, you can still receive a third stimulus payment if youre eligible.
- If you receive Social Security or Railroad Retirement benefits, youll receive your Economic Impact Payment automatically without providing further information. However, if you have eligible dependents and did not provide this information to the IRS in connection with the first or second stimulus, you will not receive the supplemental $1,400-per-child payment as part of the third stimulus.
- Note that eligibility for supplemental payments for dependents has changed. If you have dependents over the age of 18 who did not qualify for the first or second stimulus, they may still qualify for the third. To claim a supplemental payment for which you qualify under the third stimulus, you will likely need to claim a Recovery Rebate Credit the next time you file federal taxes.

Did Not File In 2018 Or 2019
Another reason why you havent received your stimulus check is because you did not file your taxes in 2018 or 2019. If you did file in 2018 and are not planning on filing in 2019, then the IRS needs updated information.
However, if you did not file taxes in 2018 or 2019, the IRS developed a web page where you can enter in information to make sure you receive your stimulus check.
Please note: If you receive disability, social security, railroad retiree or survivor benefits, the IRS will be sending you a check. You do not need to enter in your information on the web page or take action, as checks will be issued soon.
What Is A Plus
According to CNBC, some people received an additional payment on top of the incentive check already received. This is known as a bonus. This extra money went to people who owed extra money as a result of their tax returns for 2020. Example: Suppose you received your premium check based on your 2019 tax return.
