The Social Security Administration transmitted payment information for nearly 30 million to the IRS to get stimulus checks out the door after several Congressional leaders said they were alarmed at the lack of payments.
Many non-filers who receive benefits from SSI and the Railroad Retirement Board have also not received their checks and are part of the April 7 rollout. Those beneficiaries of Veterans Affairs, however, are still going to have to wait for their checks, the IRS said.
Already about 90 million people have received their third wave of stimulus checks, according to a joint letter to the heads of the Internal Revenue Service and Social Security Administration.

Usps Steps Up Security During Second Stimulus Distribution
DENVER The United States Postal Service stated it will add additional enforcement action if needed when it comes to mail thieves looking to take stimulus payments out of local mailboxes.
Here in Colorado, we see mail thieves looking for personal information. But sometimes they are looking for checks, gift cards, things like that, Eric Manuel, a postal inspector with USPS, said.
The second round of stimulus payments have been on their way to Coloradans since the end of December.
According to the IRS website: If the IRS doesnt have routing and account information for you for a direct deposit, you will be sent either a check or debit card in the form of an EIP Card. If this applies to you, IRS urges people to carefully watch their mail for either of these during January.
Postal inspectors are working these cases. Your cameras and surveillance video helps us in catching these people, Manuel said.
Those eligible for the payment dont require a minimum income. The IRS stated that those eligible individuals who filed a 2019 joint tax return will receive up to $1,200, and all other eligible individuals will receive up to $600.

For this year only, the child tax credit has increased from $2,000 per child to $3,000 per child. Parents of children under age 6 would be eligible for an even larger $3,600 total credit. Wait for updates. Currently, the IRS is still sending direct deposit transfers. The agency sent its first payments last December 29 and reminded recipients that they will continue sending payments until January 15. It remains unclear if the Treasury or IRS will finish bank account transfers by then. People who encounter problems with stimulus checks via direct deposit, however, will be unable to address them until the next tax season.
If you are eligible, you dont have to do anything apart from tracking your stimulus check provided that the IRS already has your mailing or banking information on file. You also cant do much if you want to get a mailed check instead of a direct deposit.
For instance, you cant correct banking information or register a new direct deposit account with the IRS. If the agency fails to deliver the payment, claim it on your taxes.

The USPS service Informed Delivery does not do everything however and has some significant limitations. For one, the service will not work with any business PO boxes. However, most personal PO addresses and residential addresses are fine. Another exclusion would be residential buildings whose every unit has not been identified by the post-service till now.
To know whether the service is available for you, start by going to the Informed Delivery website by the Postal Service. On getting there, press the option to sign up. It is free. After that, enter the mailing address. Here, the service will let you know if it will work at that address. If it does, then accept the conditions and terms and press Continue. After that, you can enter your desired security questions, password, and username. After entering the contact information, press continue.
Finally, the website will try to verify the users identity. Choose to do so online and you will be sent a code for verification on the given entered phone number. There are two ways to request a payment trace for a third stimulus check:

You can check the status of your stimulus check using the IRS’s “Get My Payment” tool, which updates once a day. It will show you when and how your money is being sent, either direct deposit or through the mail .
If you get a “not available” status message, the IRS says you’re either not eligible for a third stimulus check or your payment hasn’t been processed yet. If you get a “need more information” message, you can enter your direct-deposit details to speed up your payment.
If you didn’t qualify for the third check based on 2019 income but that’s the most recent return the IRS has for you, file your 2020 return as soon as you can. Your payment will be sent once the IRS has processed your return.

Heres the problem with the stimulus payments coming in the mail for millions, you need to know what to look for if youre anything like me and rip up junk mail before you open it.
The stimulus check comes in a white envelope, but it shows the U.S. Department of Treasury on it. So, hopefully, that gets your attention. If youre one of the thousands receiving an EIP debit card, it will come in the same type of envelope.
From here on out, until you receive your payment, dont assume anything is junk mail until you open it.
If you werent among the millions who received their stimulus check in their bank account the day after it was approved, dont give up hope.
While the IRS is behind and it may take a while to get the rest of the payments out, theyll come, just have patience and become a regular stalker of the USPS website and their new service.
How Much Is It Worth
Eligible individuals with adjusted gross income up to $75,000 for single filers, $112,500 for head of household filers and $150,000 for married filing jointly are eligible for the full $1,200 for individuals and $2,400 married filing jointly. In addition, they are eligible for an additional $500 per qualifying child.
For filers with income above those amounts, the payment amount is reduced by $5 for each $100 above the $75,000/$112,500/$150,000 thresholds. Single filers with income exceeding $99,000, $136,500 for head of household filers and $198,000 for joint filers with no children are not eligible and will not receive payments.

Some people who received one or both of their first two stimulus payments on a pre-paid debit card may wonder if the IRS will reload that card with the $1,400 for the latest round of payments. The answer is no, the IRS says.
If the IRS now has bank account information for you, it will send the money via direct deposit. If not, it will either issue a check or a pre-paid debit card, but the latter will come in the form of a new card, the tax agency said.
