The budget contains a handful of additional measures to try to relieve inflations impact on residents:

  • $1.95 billion for emergency rental assistance for qualified low-income tenants who requested assistance before March 31
  • $1.4 billion in funds to help residents cover past-due utility bills

The budget also includes a $14.8 billion, infrastructure and transportation package, as well as more than $200 million in additional funding that will go toward reproductive health care services.

Californias new budget also provides universal access to health coverage for low-income residents aged 26 to 49, regardless of immigration status, becoming the first state to do so.

What Exactly Is A Recovery Rebate Credit

Taxpayers who did not receive a third stimulus payment or received less than the full amount may have been eligible to claim a Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 federal tax returns.

In early 2022, the IRS sent Letter 6475 to addresses on file, confirming the total amount of third payments and any plus-up payments received for tax year 2021.

When filing their 2021 federal tax return in 2022, taxpayers needed the information to accurately calculate their 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit.

Fourth Stimulus Check: Are More Payments Coming

A fourth stimulus check from the government could take one of two forms: monthly checks in fairly small amounts, or one-time payments of up to $2,000.

Both options have been put forward by legislators in Congress as follow-ups to the third round of pandemic relief payments, which were made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act of March 2021.

The U.S. economy is still recovering, with slow but steady job growth even as unemployment numbers hold steady and the Delta variant of COVID-19 causes hospitalization rates to soar.

The federal moratorium on evictions ended Aug. 26 with a Supreme Court ruling, and millions now face losing their homes. Inflation, however, appears to be on the rise, contributing to fears among economists and lawmakers that further stimulus payments could only fuel more price hikes.

As a result, there’s no legislation in Congress that’s likely to pass that would create a fourth round of stimulus payments, even though some Democratic lawmakers have called on President Joe Biden to consider recurring payments.

The White House has passed back the buck, stating that the president would consider whatever Congress comes up with.

At the end of July, Rep. Ilhan Omar , introduced a bill that would send $1,200 to each American making less than $75,000 per year, forever. But it has not moved forward in the House of Representatives and has little chance of passing.

Social Security Retirees and Disability recipients who are eligible for the payment will get the stimulus checks/payments deposited the same way they currently get their payments.

The government has imposed three rounds of stimulus checks thus far.

In 2020, the first economic impact payment of up to $1,200 was made to low-income households.

A Fourth Stimulus Check Is Unlikely

All of the tacit and explicit support for stimulus checks keeps the possibility alive. The support doesnt make a fourth payment likely, however. And there are many reasons why.

Vaccinations are progressing steadily, albeit not as quickly as in the spring. Adults and those at least 12 years old are eligible to be inoculated in all 50 states. Three different options are available to the public, with the Pfizer vaccine fully approved by the FDA. Booster shots of the Pfizer vaccine have also been approved for those at risk or over 65. Actually putting needles in arms is taking time, even with supply readily available. Americans have received over 390 million doses, with 64.4 percent of the population having received at least one dose and 55.4 percent completely vaccinated. Vaccination numbers continue to increase at a rate of close to 600,000 doses per day. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has revised its guidance and recommends that vaccinated people in areas with higher COVID transmission revert to wearing masks indoors again.

Plenty more negotiating seems inevitable before any bill gets passed into law. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has promised not to take up the infrastructure bill until the Senate also passes the human infrastructure bill. Democrats are already laying the groundwork to use reconciliation again to push through this legislation.

Th Stimulus Checks Given Out To Teachers

For other states, their fourth stimulus checks are taking on a new lookas teacher bonuses! Its no secret that teachers are the unsung heroes of our communities, and theyve been put through the wringer during the pandemic. To show them the appreciation that they more than deserve, some states are giving teachers a fourth stimulus.

  • Florida

In Florida, teachers will be getting a $1,000 bonusalthough some of the details of who qualifies are up in the air. If youre a teacher in the Sunshine State, check with your district to see if you can get in on this.14

  • Georgia

Georgia is extending the $1,000 bonus to both full-time teachers and administrators. Part-time teachers will still score a bonus of $500, and theres even a plan in place to give a bonus to pre-K teachers.15

  • Michigan

Earlier in 2021, Michigan used a grant to pay bonuses of $500 to its teachers and $250 to school support staff. No word yet on whether theyll give out another bonus, though.16

  • Tennessee

Our very own Tennessee is giving full-time teachers $1,000 and part-time teachers $500 to thank them for their hard work.17

  • Texas

Now, nothing has happened statewide yet, but some districts in the Lone Star State are giving out their own bonuses. Districts are gifting things like 24% raises, a $500 bonus, and even a $2,000 incentive for some teachers to return to the classroom.18

Some Legislators Are Still Pushing For Additional Federal Stimulus

Stimulus Check Update: Senior Citizens Raises Money! 4TH STIMULUS CHECK – (STIMULUS NEWS)

Although overall the American economy has been very strong over the past year, there are signs of weakness that have some federal legislators clamoring for more stimulus. In addition to the skyrocketing inflation rate, which has significantly raised the basic cost of living for most Americans, assistance such as the expanded child tax credit, enhanced unemployment benefits and mortgage assistance programs have all expired. If the economy is headed for a recession, as some economists fear, many Americans will be thrown right back into a world of economic uncertainty.

Against this backdrop, various forms of legislation have been promoted over the past year or so, but none of it has yet to gain any traction. In March 2021, for example, 21 senators signed a letter requesting ongoing, monthly stimulus checks to Americans, but that went nowhere.

Child Tax Credit: December End

Some families received another form of stimulus aid when the IRS in July deposited the first of six monthly cash payments into bank accounts of parents who qualify for the Child Tax Credit . Families on average received $423 in their first CTC payment, according to an analysis of Census data from the left-leaning advocacy group Economic Security Project.

Eligible families received up to $1,800 in cash through December, with the money parceled out in equal installments over the six months from July through December. The aid was due to the expanded CTC, which is part of President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan.

Families who qualify received $300 per month for each child under 6 and $250 for children between 6 to 17 years old. Several families that spoke to CBS MoneyWatch said the extra money would go toward child care, back-to-school supplies and other essentials.

While progressives and some Democrats urged lawmakers to continue the enhanced CTC, it appears stalled at the moment. That means families won’t receive a CTC payment in January or beyond.

When Do Tax Refunds Become Available

The IRS estimates that if you filed your tax return electronically, you should receive your refund in less than three weeks, and even sooner if you choose direct deposit.

If you filed a paper return, you can anticipate a refund to take between six and eight weeks to process.

Filing during the busiest time of the year typically results in a longer wait time.

Therefore, if you require a refund immediately, you should always file as soon as possible.

Fourth Stimulus Checks Are Coming From These States Is Yours On The List

NEW Stimulus Check Program Money RELEASED! Fourth Stimulus Check Update ...

A Change.org petition with nearly 3 million signatures is demanding $2,000 payments for all Americans throughout the pandemic. Although an official fourth stimulus check from the federal government might seem unlikely at this point, states are doing their own part in making sure federal stimulus money gets distributed. As part of the American Rescue Plan stimulus relief bill, states were allotted over $200 billion dollars to spend towards their economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

States have until the end of 2021 to give their money out, and governors have already begun doling out cash where they feel their states need it the most.

This means that anyone who saw a pay increase in 2020 that puts their earnings outside of the income threshold would not receive a payment.

Meanwhile, financial experts are speculating on what form of aid Americans may receive as continued pandemic relief. According to Yahoo! Finance, there are four possibilities on the table recurring stimulus payments, a minimum wage hike, making the child tax credit raise permanent and a renewal of federal unemployment payments.

Some senators are keen on having recurring payments for the duration of the pandemic, while others want to raise minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $11 or $15 per hour.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki has said that Biden wants to make the expanded child tax credit permanent. Additionally, 10 senators reportedly wrote a letter to the president asking him to extend federal unemployment assistance beyond the September expiration date.

So Will There Be More Checks

Though scores of lawmakers are now pressing the president to back further direct payments, his press secretary says that’s a matter for Congress to decide. And, Congress is the biggest obstacle standing in the way of more relief money.

The last COVID rescue bill won passage via a budget loophole, not negotiation. Given that Biden’s Democrats control both houses of Congress by whisper-thin margins, they’d have to use the same device to push more checks through.

So far, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other congressional leaders haven’t voiced any support for a new round of direct payments. Their focus right now is on passing Biden’s packages to fund infrastructure projects and help families.

But billionaire bond investor Jeffrey Gundlach thinks you can probably count on seeing more stimulus checks. Though Gundlach is no fan of what he calls “government giveaways,” he says additional payments may be inevitable because Americans have come to rely on them.

“People’s behavior is going to, is already, I think, partly modified to kind of factor in ongoing government assistance,” Gundlach tells Yahoo Finance. “And the government doesn’t seem to be discouraging them from thinking that it’s going to be here for a long time.”

Fourth Stimulus Check Update: Millions Of Americans Could Receive Payment

A trio of Democratic lawmakers proposed a bill last week that would introduce a new national stimulus payment aimed at offsetting the escalated price of gasoline. Should the bill pass, millions of Americans would be eligible for stimulus checks in any month where the national average gas prices exceed $4 per gallon.

Representatives Mike Thompson of California, John Larson of Connecticut and Lauren Underwood of Illinois introduced the bill on March 17. The Gas Rebate Act of 2022 would send eligible Americans an energy rebate of $100, as well as another $100 for each dependent.

The new stimulus measure is designed to ease the impact on American families, who have already been hit by the steepest rise in inflation in decades. Gas prices have also been escalating rapidly, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine contributed to prices hitting record highs earlier this month.

According to AAA, the current national gas average as of Thursday is $4.236. The national gas average topped $4 on March 6 for the first time in a decade. The company also said that the previous record high was $4.11, which was set in July 2008.

“Americans are feeling the impact at the pump of Vladimir Putin‘s illegal invasion of Ukraine, and right now we must work together on commonsense policy solutions to ease the financial burden that my constituents are feeling,” Thompson said in a statement.
