Why Millions Joined The Great Resignation

Employers are having difficulty finding staff to fill available jobs. Where once they were in the driving seat choosing the candidates they wanted and setting the conditions, bosses have had to reassess the situation.

While at the same time the pandemic has made millions of Americans reconsider their careers and given them a nudge to venture out to look for something new. Here are some of their stories…

Lawmakers in Washington have agreed to a short-term increase of the debt ceiling postponing the need for the US Treasury to decide who gets paid. But, that agreement only gives a matter of weeks breathing space.

If a longer-term solution is not achieved before 3 December, the estimated date the US Treasury wont be able to meet all its financial obligations, then questions about what payments the US government can make come into play.

With the partisan standoff in Washington holding up a long-term solution to raising the debt ceiling, what federal government payments will be at risk?

Who Qualifies For More

Some households will qualify for additional third-round funds when they file their 2021 income tax return this year, however. This is true for those whose circumstances changed in 2021 relative to 2020.

For example, children born in 2021 qualify for an additional payment of up to $1,400, which parents didn’t receive last year.

Families who added a dependent on their 2021 tax return and who was not listed as a dependent on their 2020 return may also qualify, the IRS said.

Most other eligible people already received the full third-round amount and won’t qualify for more, the agency said.

Last Chance To Claim 2020 Stimulus Checks Approaching

The majority of Americans have already received the stimulus money due to them from the first and second Economic Impact Payments but there are still some Americans who have not. The IRS automatically sent out the payments for the two rounds of stimulus checks approved last year based on tax returns from either 2018 or 2019 and information from the Social Security Administration or Veterans Affairs.

Still there are some Americans who aren’t required to file income tax returns due to their low income. Technically they have until 15 October to file a tax return to receive those funds. Although since it is a tax rebate and they should qualify for the full amount which was a total of $1,800 in 2020 they would have up until 15 April 2024 to claim their refund, but the IRS is recommending not to wait.

The underwhelming September jobs report has seen renewed calls for additional federal support programmes, but the White House insists it is not necessary.

Progressives Exult In New

Stimulus checks may not be considered until 2021

The Hill – Progressive Democrats are celebrating a moral victory this weekend, even as the outcome of the broader battle to enact a huge social-spending bill remains in doubt.

Left-wingers say a dramatic week has shown they have far more muscle within the party than they have enjoyed in a generation and that theyre willing to use it.

The decision by Speaker Nancy Pelosi late Thursday night to postpone a scheduled vote on a $1 trillion infrastructure package was seen by the left as a triumph over their most conservative party colleagues.

Moved Recently Update Your Child Tax Credit Information

You still have time before the 11:59 deadline tonight to update the information and receive the October Child Tax Credit. It will be the fourth one sent menaing there are just two left in 2021.

An expansion of the credit after 2021 depends on what bills will get through Congress. Two bills that would affect the CTC, the reconciliation and infrastructure bills, are currently stuck in the House but should get passed in some form before November.

Struggling Families Could Afford Food Thanks To Child Tax Credit

Speaking before lawmakers at a House Financial Services Committees hearing entitled Oversight of the Treasury Departments and Federal Reserves Pandemic Response”, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen outlined the importance of extending the Child Tax Credit. The expanded programme, which went into force in July, was only funded for a single year and will soon come to an end if not extended by Congress.

Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, families across the country will begin receiving monthly Child Tax Credit payments today. In our community, nearly 3 in 4 children will receive these payments, putting money in the pockets of parents to help pay for mortgages, child care, summer learning, and more, as we continue to recover economically from the pandemic.”

The Child Tax Credit will deliver critical resources to families when they need it most, but lets be clear: families need support well beyond this pandemic. Im fighting in Congress to permanently expand these Child Tax Credit payments, so our families have the resources needed to thrive this month and into the future.

When Is Social Security Cola For Benefits In 2022 Announced

Based on the announcements made in previous years, we can expect that the COLA will be announced sometime next week. This year all eyes are on the Social Security Administration because of how inflation has brought the price of basic goods way up. These increases are especially challenging for those who receive Social Security as they are on a fixed income, meaning that rapid changes in inflation have a severe impact on their disposable income.

Details Of The Third Stimulus Check

Stimulus Check 4th Update October 2021 – Social Security Benefits Update

Previous stimulus efforts included income caps, but in prior rounds you could still get a partial payment if you had dependents, even if you exceeded the cap. In the new round, if you exceed the income caps, you dont get a check, period.

The third round of stimulus includes consideration for people who fall into a range of categories that may qualify them for the third check:

  • SSDI recipients
  • Those who are not U.S. citizens
  • American citizens who do not live in the USA
  • Families with mixed-status citizenship

Income restrictions apply in most cases, and those in the above categories may need to do some additional research to learn under what circumstances they qualify or are disqualified under the bill.

Some of these individuals and families may have difficulty sorting out the stimulus payment depending on how they receive other benefitsits strongly recommended that those who need assistance claiming their stimulus while also receiving SSI or SSDI or other benefits contact the IRS or their nearest Social Security office to get advice and help.
