Your 2020 Tax Return Hasnt Been Processed Yet
Eligible individuals who submitted their 2020 taxes on time but whose returns have not yet been processed by the state yet should expect a delay in their payment, according to the Franchise Tax Board.
Taxpayers who filed after Sept. 1 and typically get their refund via direct deposit likely wont get the payment until up to 45 days after their return has been processed.
For those anticipating a payment by mail, expect a longer delay up to two months if the return hasnt been processed prior to their ZIP codes scheduled payment date.
On top of that, Some payments may need extra time to process for accuracy and completeness, the state notes.
Irs Says It Sent All Coronavirus Stimulus Checks
Earlier this week, the agency announced that it had issued all the first and second round of payments. As per the agency, it issued 160 million payments in the first round, totaling $270 billion. In the first round, the coronavirus stimulus checks of up to $1,200 started going out in April.

In the second round, which included stimulus checks of up to $600, the agency said it distributed over 147 million checks totaling about $142 billion. For the second stimulus check, which started going out earlier this year, the IRS was required by law to send all the payments by Jan. 15.
The IRS said it had delivered all the payments on the basis of details it has on file. However, the agency noted that some checks could still be in the mail. Also, the agency said that about 13 million checks were sent to bank accounts and addresses that are not valid, and thus, had to be redirected.
Americans Who Didnt Receive The Full Stimulus Amount That They Were Entitled To
If you received a payment but you dont think it was as much as it shouldve been, you should claim your Recovery Rebate Credit.
Americans should first think back to what they were eligible for from both rounds of stimulus payments. Individuals earning up to $75,000 in adjustable gross income were eligible for the full $1,200 payment in March and the second $600 payment from late December and early January. Married couples earning up to $150,000 were eligible for payments twice that size. Those earners were also eligible for an extra $500 and $600 for every dependent claimed on their taxes.
After that, payments phased out by $5 per every $100 over those income thresholds. This is probably where it gets a bit trickier.
Because the first stimulus check was larger, payments phased out at a later point on the income scale than they did for the second round. Reduced $1,200 checks went out to individuals who made up to $99,000 a year and married couples who earned up to $198,000. In the second round, individuals and married filers were eligible for a partial check up until earning $87,000 and $174,000, respectively.
Its important to calculate first for yourself how much youre owed. Then, compare that with official documents from the IRS showing your stimulus check amount. Those can include the letter accompanying your payment, as well as another special form, Notice 1444 or Notice 1444-B, which most likely came with your first check earlier in 2020.

Irs Get My Payment: How To Use The Online Tracker Tool
To get an update on your third stimulus check using Get My Payment, enter your Social Security number, date of birth, street address and ZIP or postal code. The tool will display a message with information about your payment. You can see things like whether your money was sent or is scheduled to be sent, the payment method and the date your stimulus money was issued. The tool may also say it can’t yet determine your status — see more below about error messages.
Whether To File Another Irs Form

As was the case with the first and second check, if you filed a 2018, 2019 or 2020 tax return or receive government benefits, the IRS should automatically send your third check without you having to do anything.
If, however, you’re a nonfiler, a US citizen or permanent resident, had a gross income in 2019 under $12,200 — or $24,400 as a married couple — and didn’t file a return for 2018 or 2019, you may need to give the IRS a bit of information before it can process your payment. Since the IRS’ Non-Filers tool is now closed, you may need to file for that money on a 2021 tax return in the form of a recovery rebate credit, described above.

You May Have Overlooked The Envelope With Your Check Or Card
The problem: With the first payment, some people reported accidentally throwing out the envelope containing their check, not recognizing that it contained a stimulus payment.
What to watch for: Pay attention to the mail and don’t assume it’s all junk. We recommend tracking your USPS letters for a heads up on what’s being delivered. For a paper check, watch for a white envelope sent from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The memo field will read “Economic Impact Payment.”
A prepaid EIP debit card will come in a white envelope with a seal of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Once you open the envelope, the card itself will say Visa on the front and haveMetaBank, N.A., the name of the bank, on the back. The envelope will include details on how to activate the Economic Impact Payment.
What next? You can cash the check right away, but the 5 million EIP card recipients will need to activate the card first. The checks will expire after a year.
If The First Two Stimulus Payments Never Showed Up Do This
The IRS is no longer automatically sending out the first and second payments that were approved in 2020. If you believe you’re still owed money from either of those payment rounds, your best chance of claiming those funds is to file for the Recovery Rebate Credit as part of the 2020 tax season.
If you’re eligible, you’ll need to know the amount of money the IRS allotted you, which you can find out online or from the letter the agency mailed. The IRS said the updated Get My Payment tracker won’t give you information on the first and second checks. Instead, you need to set up and check your IRS account for information on those payments.

How Can You Correct Mistakes
The IRS sends out Notice 1444 by mail within 15 days of making a direct deposit or sending a paper check. That letter will tell you the amount of your stimulus payment and how it was made. The letter also provides instructions on fixing issues with your payment.
Don’t Respond to Telephone Calls or Texts About Your Stimulus Check
The IRS will not call, text, or email you about your stimulus payment. The Federal Trade Commission is warning that thieves are posing as government employees to prey on stimulus payment recipients. These scammers may ask for your personal information or threaten you that if you don’t send the money back in the form of money transfers or gift cards, you’ll lose your drivers’ license. Ignore these communications.

You may want to double-check that you qualified for the second payment before trying to file for the rebate credit as there were some differences between who was eligible for the second stimulus payment compared to the first. As the Peter G. Peterson Foundation explains, individuals earning more than $87,000, single parents making more than $124,500, and married couples earning more than $174,000 were not eligible for the second round of payments. The income caps for the first stimulus payments, meanwhile, were higher at $99,000 for individuals, $136,500 for single parents, and $198,000 for married couples. Still No Third Stimulus Check Track Your Money Now With This Online Tool
If your third stimulus check hasn’t arrived yet, you’re likely becoming concerned about what’s happened to it. But don’t get too worried yet — start by checking your bank account because it may have a pending deposit.Iit’s also possible the check is stuck en route in the mail. Make Sure Enough Time Has Passed
The IRS says phone operators will only be able to trace a first- or second-round stimulus payment if:
- 4 weeks have passed since the payment was mailed by check to a standard address
- 6 weeks have passed since the payment was mailed to a forwarding address on file with the local post office
- 9 weeks have passed since the payment was mailed, and you have a foreign address listed for the first payment OR
- It is after March 31, 2021, and you have a foreign address listed for the second payment
After confirming your payment was sent and meeting the timeframes list above, you can initiate a trace on your payment by calling the IRS at 800-919-9835 or submitting Form 3911 .

Finding The Amounts Of Your First Second And Third Stimulus Checks
To find the amount of stimulus payment youve received, you can:
- Refer to the IRS notices that were mailed to you. IRS Notice 1444shows how much you received from the first stimulus check. IRS Notice 1444-B shows how much you received from the second stimulus check. IRS Notice 1444-C shows how much you received from the third stimulus check.
- Check your bank statements. If you had your payments direct deposited, you can find the amount of your first, second, and third stimulus check using your bank statements. They should be labeled as IRS TREAS 310 and have a code of either TAXEIP1 , TAXEIP2 , or TAXEIP3 .
- Request an account transcript. You can request an account transcript sent electronically or by mail using Get Transcript. You can also call the IRS automated phone transcript service at 800-908-9946 or mail in Form 4506-T to have your transcript be sent by mail.
- Create an account on IRS.gov/account. You can view your stimulus check amounts under the Tax Records tab. If you filed jointly with your spouse, you will only see your half of the stimulus check amounts. Your spouse will need to sign into their own account to see the other half of the stimulus check amounts.

California began issuing batches of stimulus payments by direct deposit back in late August but only started sending paper checks out by mail earlier this month. As a result, those who typically get their state refund through the mail should expect a delay possibly even through the new year.
Additionally, where you live can also affect when you get the payment, as mailing times are based on the taxpayers last three digits of their ZIP code.

Im Not A Us Citizen Will I Be Eligible For A Stimulus Payment
You may be eligible. Much like the last round of stimulus payments, if you have a Social Security number, theres a good chance you fall into one of the classifications for immigrants who qualify for a payment.
If you do not have a Social Security number but your spouse is an active duty military member, you may still receive the full $2,800 .
If You Havent Gotten A $1200 Stimulus Check Yet You Need To Do This Right Now
- Americans have been receiving stimulus checks from the federal government for months, but there are still millions of eligible people who have yet to receive their Economic Impact Payment.
- This week, the IRS extended the deadline for Non-Filers to submit their information and receive stimulus checks from October 15th to November 21st.

The IRS mailed close to 9 million letters last month to let people know that they needed to enter their information to receive the $1,200 they were owed, but it looks as though many of those Americans didnt heed the warning. As a result, the IRS decided that it would be best to extend the deadline and give those affected more time to collect their cash.

I Still Havent Gotten Paid What Do I Do
You can always check on the status of your payment at the IRS.gov website, which will tell you when the check was sent out if it was.
If the check was sent out but you never received it, you can check out the payment trace tool, where you can try to find where, exactly, your check got lost in the process.
If you never get your money, you can use the Recovery Rebate tool on your 2022 tax return to get your cash.
If you are owed a plus-up payment because you got too small of a stimulus check, you can file your tax return ASAP, and the IRS will send you the money it owes you based on their calculations.
