What Social Security Administration Says
The Social Security Administration has yet to release updated advice on third stimulus payments.
The SSA stated on March 12: The IRS is reviewing the tax provisions of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, signed into law on March 11, 2021. We will add helpful Q& As to this page soon, like we did for each of the first two rounds of EIPs.
If you still subscribe to receive updates from us when we update our EIP1 and EIP2 pages, we will automatically add you to a subscription list for this new EIP page, the SSA added.
A spokesperson for NACHA told The Liberty Buzz: Unfortunately, it appears we dont know enough yet . The only information we were given is that SSA rules require that legislation be passed before they can work to find eligibility and payment information.
The Liberty Buzz has contacted the SSA, IRS and the Bureau of the Fiscal Service for comment.
When Is The Latest Round Of Stimulus Payments Expected For Ssi Ssdi Beneficiaries And Veterans

Federal beneficiaries who filed a 2019 or 2020 tax return or used the Non-Filers tool in 2020 may have already received a stimulus payment, or could get one in a future batch of checks being sent out by the government.
For most everyone else, payments started going out on April 7 by direct deposit or on your Direct Express card. For those receiving payments through the mail, those checks began on April 9. If you have a foreign address and don’t typically file a tax return, electronic payments went out around April 21 and paper checks on April 23. Veterans who don’t file taxes ordinarily should have received their payment on April 14.
The IRS and Treasury will use the information it has on file to automatically send you a check . People who have already filed a 2020 tax return this year to claim missing stimulus money may find that the IRS will use this information instead of your 2019 details if it has processed your latest return .
Some people may need to file a 2020 tax return, even if they don’t usually file, so the IRS has all the information needed to send payments to cover eligible dependents.

Why Is The Irs Sending Me Letter 6475
The Economic Impact Payment letters include important information that can help people quickly and accurately file their tax return, the IRS said in a January release, including personal information like your name and address and the total amount sent in your third stimulus payment.
This could include plus-up payments, the additional funds the IRS sent to people who were eligible for a larger amount based on their 2019 or 2020 tax returns, or information received from the Social Security Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs or the Railroad Retirement Board.
You may have already received a Letter 1444-C, which showed the amount you were paid and how it was delivered, but thats not what you want to use to prepare your 2021 return.

What Direct Express Says
Direct Express continues to advise account holders to view the IRS website for the latest information on stimulus payments.
On Monday, the company tweeted: Thanks for your patience. We are experiencing longer than normal DE call center wait times. For the most current information on individual stimulus payments, the IRS encourages using the Get My Payment portal.
In a tweet on March 16, the company said it did not have specific information on timing but most people will receive their stimulus payments within the next few weeks.
Only current Direct Express cardholders can receive their third stimulus payments on their cards. Those who currently dont have a Direct Express card cannot sign up for one now to receive their stimulus payments, Direct Express said on March 15.
Stimulus payments sent to Direct Express accounts that were recently closed will be returned and the IRS will reissue the payment, the company said.

When Will Ssi Get The Third Stimulus Check
Are you one of the people who still did not receive your third stimulus check?
Although almost all the money authorized by the government to be distributed to Americans from the Covid-19 Economic Impact Payment fund has already been delivered, some people did not get theirs. The government has not sent out all the checks from the third round of stimulus relief payments because the Internal Revenue Service is missing necessary information.
How Should I Claim Missing Stimulus Money For My Dependents
If you used the IRS’ Non-Filers tool from May 5 to Aug. 15, 2020, the IRS should have automatically issued a catch-up payment for your dependents in October 2020. If you received your original stimulus money by direct deposit, you should have gotten the catch-up payment the same way. Others would have received it in the mail.
If you filed for your missing dependent money by Nov. 21, 2020, the payment should have arrived by the end of 2020 in the same way you received your first payment . If you missed the deadline, your payment should be included on your 2020 tax return in 2021 if you file for a Recovery Rebate Credit.
To see the status of your or your dependent’s payment for the first or second payments, check your IRS account.

Social Security Disability Insurance Beneficiaries:
A person receives SSDI if they can’t work due to a severe medical condition that has lasted, or is expected to last, at least one year or result in death. The person’s medical condition must prevent them from doing work that they did in the past, and it must prevent them from adjusting to other work.
Since the SSDI program is funded through payroll taxes recipients must be over 18 and under 65 years old and have earned a certain number of “work credits”. As with SSI, there is a five-month waiting period for benefits.
Payment Status Not Available
If you are getting âPayment Status Not Availableâ from the IRS stimulus check trackerâ donât be alarmed.
According to the IRS, if you receive that message it can mean one of three things:
- You are not eligible for the payment.
- The payment has yet to be processed
- The IRS doesnât have enough information to issue the payment to you
The agency said it will continue to issue the 2021 Economic Impact Payments throughout 2021.

Rd Stimulus Checks: Social Security Recipients Could See Faster $1400 Payments As Data Is Turned Over To Irs
by: Michael Geheren, Nexstar Media Wire
WASHINGTON The Social Security Administration transmitted payment information for nearly 30 million to the IRS to get stimulus checks out the door after several Congressional leaders said they were alarmed at the lack of payments.
Beneficiaries of Social Security, SSI , Veterans Affairs and Railroad Retirement Board havent received their third checks and still have no estimated timeline on when they will get payments.
Already about 90 million people have received their third wave of stimulus checks, according to a joint letter to the heads of the Internal Revenue Service and Social Security Administration.
However, we were alarmed to learn recently that most Social Security, SSI, RRB, and VA beneficiaries who are not required to file a tax return have not yet received their payments and that the IRS is unable to provide an expected timeline for these payments, said Reps. Richard Neal , John Larson , Bill Pascrell and Danny Davis in the letter sent earlier this week.
On Wednesday, the group sent a follow-up letter to Social Security Administration Commissioner Andrew Saul after learning the agency hasnt sent the necessary payment files to the IRS, delaying the payments of nearly 30 million people.
The SSA responded at 8:48 a.m. , according to the Congressional leaders, saying they had sent the info to the IRS.
They also praised the work of SSAs public servants.
What If I Didnt Get The Right Amount

Some people may get their checks quickly, yet discover the payment amount is incorrect that could be due to their dependents or changes in income.
The law provides $1,400 per adult and dependent, as long as the household income falls below the income threshold for eligibility. In the current bill, single people whose adjusted gross income was below $75,000 and married couples with income below $150,000 will receive their full payments, as well as their dependents. Payments decline for earnings above that, cutting off entirely for single people earning $80,000 and $160,000 for married couples.
But some people may not get the right amount, especially if they havent yet filed their 2020 tax returns, given that the IRS extended the tax deadline until May 17. For instance, if a family had a baby last year but hasnt yet filed their 2020 returns, the IRS would base their payments on their 2019 returns which wouldnt include their new baby. In that case, the family would receive $2,800 for themselves, but not the extra $1,400 for their child.
For instance, the most recent batch of checks issued this week include plus-up payments for people who received checks based on their 2019 tax returns but who have since filed their 2020 tax returns and are owed more. The agency said such extra payments could reflect a loss of income in 2020, which could entitle the tax filers to more stimulus money, or if they had a child last year.

Stimulus For Va Recipients To Be Issued By Mid
Stimulus payments for Veteran Affairs benefit recipients who don’t usually file taxes could be issued by mid-April, according to the latest IRS statement.
But the federal body is “exploring whether we can include them with the other recipients,” according to a March 26 letter sent by the IRS to the House Ways and Means Committee and shared with Newsweek.
The IRS has been “working tirelessly” after it received the required paperwork from the SSA following pressure from the committee.
According to the March 26 letter sent to the committee’s chairman Rep. Richard Neal , “the IRS received the SSA files on March 24 and 25.”
The letter, signed by IRS Commissioner Charles P. Rettig, stated that the federal body intends to issue stimulus funds to eligible recipients of SSI, SSDI and RRB “whose data is valid and consistent” in the first week of April.
Amount Of Your Third Stimulus Check
Every eligible American will receive a $1,400 third stimulus check “base amount.” The base amount jumps to $2,800 for married couples filing a joint tax return. You also get an extra $1,400 for each dependent in your family .
Not everyone will receive the full amount, though. As with the first two stimulus payments, third-round stimulus checks will be reduced potentially to zero for people reporting an adjusted gross income above a certain amount on their latest tax return. If you filed your most recent tax return as a single filer, your third stimulus check will be phased-out if your AGI is $75,000 or more. That threshold jumps to $112,500 for head-of-household filers, and to $150,000 for married couples filing a joint return. Third-round stimulus checks will be completely phased out for single filers with an AGI above $80,000, head-of-household filers with an AGI over $120,000, and joint filers with an AGI exceeding $160,000.

How Are Americans Using Stimulus Checks
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York says that households are spending a smaller percentage of their stimulus checks and saving more. The that households set aside just under 25% of their third-round payments for consumption. This share fell from just over 29% of first-round payments reported in June 2020 and almost 26% of second-round payments reported in January 2021.
The table below is based on all three SCE surveys and breaks down the average percentage of stimulus payments spent, saved and used to pay off debt:
New York Fed SCE Breakdown of Stimulus Check Spending | |
Payment Round | |
37.4% | 33.7% |
The New York Fed also says that households expect to spend an average 13% of the third stimulus check on essential items and an average 8% on non-essential items.
For a comparison, preliminary data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau from shows that the majority of stimulus recipients are almost three times more likely to use checks to pay down debt than add to their savings.
An earlier showed that the majority of recipients who got the first stimulus check spent their payment on household expenses. Adults with incomes between $75,000 and $99,999 told the Census that they would most likely pay off debt or add to their savings. While adults making less than $25,000 said they would use their stimulus to pay for expenses.
For those households that spent their first stimulus checks, the study says:

Yes, if you meet the eligibility requirements. While you won’t receive an automatic payment now, you can still get all three payments. File a 2020 return and claim the Recovery Rebate Credit.
The IRS urges people who don’t normally file a tax return and haven’t received any stimulus payments to look into their filing options. The IRS will continue reaching out to non-filers so that as many eligible people as possible receive the stimulus payments they’re entitled to.
The IRS encourages people to file electronically, and the tax software will help figure the correct stimulus amount, which is called the Recovery Rebate Credit on 2020 tax forms. Third Stimulus Checks And Ssi: What It Means For Social Security Recipients
by: Gregg Palermo , Nexstar Media Wire
by: Gregg Palermo , Nexstar Media Wire
ST. LOUIS The U.S. Treasury has started sending out $1,400 payments as part of the recently passed American Rescue Plan but what does that mean for people on Social Security and when will SSI recipients receive their stimulus check?
According to the IRS, the third round of economic stimulus, known to the Treasury as EIP3, will be sent to people who didnt file a return but receive Social Security retirement, survivor or disability benefits , Railroad Retirement benefits, Supplemental Security Income or Veterans Affairs benefits. This is similar to the first and second rounds of Economic Impact Payments, often referred to as EIP1 and EIP2.
The IRS has not confirmed the official payment date. Social Security recipients will get the payment the same way they would normally receive Social Security benefits.
For those who received EIP1 or EIP2 but dont receive a payment via direct deposit, they will generally receive a check or, in some instances, a prepaid debit card . A payment will not be added to an existing EIP card mailed for the first or second round of stimulus payments, the IRS says.
While the payment date for many recipients was March 18, a specific date for Social Security recipients has not been confirmed.
