Amount Of Third Stimulus Checks
Question: How much money will I get?
Answer: Everyone wants to know how much money they will get. You probably heard that your third stimulus check will be for $1,400 but it’s not that simple. That’s just the base amount. Your check could actually be much higher or lower.
To calculate the amount of your check, Uncle Sam will start with that $1,400 figure. If you’re married and file a joint tax return, then both you and your spouse will get $1,400 . If you have dependents, you get an additional $1,400 for of them. So, for example, a married couple with two children can get up to $5,600.
Now the bad news. Stimulus payment amounts will be phased-out for people at certain income levels. Your check will be gradually reduced to zero if you’re single with an adjusted gross income above $75,000. If you’re married and file a joint tax return, the amount of your stimulus check will drop if your AGI exceeds $150,000. If you claim the head-of-household filing status on your tax return, your payment will be reduced if your AGI tops $112,500. You won’t get any payment at all if your AGI is above $80,000 , $120,000 , or $160,000 .
Also note that the IRS, which is issuing the payments, will look at either your 2019 or 2020 tax return for your filing status, AGI, and information about your dependents. Because of this, the amount of your third stimulus check could depending on when you file your 2020 tax return.
Eligibility For $1400 Stimulus Checks
Here is a breakdown of those who are eligible for the $1,400 stimulus check:
- Individuals with an adjusted gross income under $75,000.
- Heads of household with an AGI up to $112,500
- Qualifying taxpayers will also receive $1,400 for each eligible dependent
- Smaller payments will be made to individuals with an AGI under $80,000, heads of household with an AGI under $120,000, and married couples earning under $160,000.-
- Anyone above those limits will receive nothing
- The payments are based on either 2019 or 2020 income, depending on when a taxpayer files their 2020 tax return.
Who Is Eligible For The Third Stimulus Check
All taxpayers and earners who meet income requirements and have a Social Security number are eligible for the $1,400 Earned Income Payment.
To qualify for the payment, an individual filing 2019 or 2020 income tax as a single person had to make less than $75,000 in adjusted gross income. The limit for head of household is $112,500, and for married couples filing jointly $150,000.
Payments will be phased out between $75,000 and $80,000 for singles, $150,00 and $160,000 for married filing jointly.
This leads to some quirky math. Individuals who made $74,999 will receive $1,400. Those who made $80,001 will get nothing. The same applies to married couples who made $149,999 and those making $160,001 .
Adult dependents will receive $1,400. The main people in this category figure to be unemployed adults living at home, college students and the elderly being cared for by a son or daughter at their home.

Avoid Stimulus Payment Scammers
There are multiple reports of scammers attempting to use concern about the covid-19 pandemic as an opportunity for phishing .
Individuals should remain vigilant when receiving emails or text messages received claiming to have information about covid-19 especially from organizations which they did not sign up to receive alerts from. Some phishing attempts may purport to be from a health authority like the World Health Organization, from someone that makes promises about miracle cures, or asks for donations or other actions.
These types of emails may be phishing attempts, where an attacker sends you a message that looks innocent but may contain malware or a link designed to steal an account password.

Adults & Young Adults Can Get The Third Stimulus Check

In the previous rounds of the stimulus checks, reportedly, 15 million dependent adults and older children were not given stimulus checks. This was under the CAREs Act. The same groups, this time, have eligibility for the third stimulus check. But remember the amount the dependent will receive may vary. It will depend on their taxpaying aids income and claims.
Young adult, financially independent students will also be eligible this time for the stimulus amount. But only if they file taxes individually. Even older children who have parents that earn enough but file their own taxes separately are eligible for the third stimulus check. But any of them who provide over half of ones financial aid does not qualify.
The third stimulus checks have already been dispatched. To be eligible, older children who filed their tax firstly in 2020 also will get their first-ever stimulus check. The Recovery Rebate Credit can be claimed by taxpayers from CAREs Act, said IRS. This is in reference to the tax returns for 2020. And can be done by Form 1040 or 1040SR. In easier words, in 2020, if you earned below 12,400 dollars in that tax year and are single and not elderly , you dont need to file for returns.

Concern Over Access To Stimulus Checks For Unhoused Citizens
Representative Cori Bush has written to the Commissioner of the IRS, Charles Rettig, expressing her concern over the possibility of unhoused citizens being able to get access to the third round of stimulus checks after the IRS closed the Non-Filer Portal. That leaves non-filers having to complete a Form 1040, something that is likely to prevent many from getting their stimulus check.
With so many people struggling and homelessness rising sharply across the US, getting the third stimulus check out as quickly as possible is vital, and reopening the Non-Filer Portal to make things as easy as possible would seem to be a very necessary move.
Ok So Who Gets The Money
Individuals who make less than $75,000 or heads of households who make less than $112,500. For married couples who file their taxes jointly, both would qualify for the full amount if they make up to $150,000 jointly.
Individuals who make $75,000 to $80,000 would still get checks, but they would be less than $1,400. The same goes for heads of household making $112,500 to $120,000 and couples making $150,000 to $160,000.
Those who make more wouldn’t get payments.
In addition to the amounts for adults, parents would get up to $1,400 more for every child on their tax returns. That includes adult children, like college students, and those with permanent disabilities, unlike last year’s stimulus payments.
So if you’re a family of four with a household income under $150,000, you should get $5,600.

People Who Don’t File A Tax Return
Question: What if I don’t file a 2019 or 2020 tax return?
Answer: Some people don’t file a tax return because their income doesn’t reach the filing requirement threshold. If that’s the case, the IRS will send a third stimulus check based on whatever information, if any, is available to it. That information potentially could come from the Social Security Administration, Railroad Retirement Board, or Veterans Administration if you’re currently receiving benefits from one of those federal agencies. If that’s the case, you’ll generally receive your third stimulus payment the same way that you get your regular benefits. If you supplied the IRS information last year through its online Non-Filers tool or by submitting a special simplified tax return, the tax agency can use that information, too.
Some people who receive a third stimulus check based on information from the SSA, RRB, or VA may still want to file a 2020 tax return even if they aren’t required to file to get an additional payment for a spouse or dependent.
Third Stimulus Check: When Could You Get A $1400 Check
President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief plan proposes a third round of stimulus checks of $1,400 for most Americans. Yet while that could extend a helping hand to millions of households still suffering from the pandemic’s economic fallout, it could be weeks until the payments arrive, analysts say.
The price tag for the relief package, called the American Rescue Plan, faces pushback from some Republican lawmakers, who last year resisted Democratic efforts to pass a $2 trillion bill. Heights Securities analyst Hunter Hammond expects a final package could be passed in the first quarter and range from $1.5 to $2.2 trillion.
On February 1, a group of 10 Republican lawmakers unveiled an alternative stimulus plan that would scale back the checks to $1,000 per adult and lower the income cap for receiving payment. That plan would cut the cost of a third stimulus check to $220 billion, compared with $600 billion under Mr. Biden’s more generous package.
“Congress is pushing forward on a Democrat-only $1.9 trillion stimulus package in an attempt to strike while the iron is hot, and we expect this effort to succeed,” noted Hunter Hammond, an analyst with Heights Securities, in a February 5 research note.
Mr. Biden has expressed a willingness to negotiate, with the president saying he would insist on $1,400 checks but suggesting he was open to targeting the checks to people who need the most help.

Europe Needs A More Ambitious Covid Stimulus Plan Says France’s Beaune
The European Union must shoot for a more ambitious COVID-19 recovery plan than the landmark 750 billion euro stimulus agreed last summer after the epidemic’s first wave, French European Affairs Minister Clement Beaune said on Sunday.
Beaune said Europe must not repeat errors made after the global financial crisis a decade ago and this time should underpin the recovery with investment, in fifth-generation wireless networks, green and digital technologies, among others.
Asked in an interview on LCI television how much would be needed, Beaune said: “No doubt something like a doubling .
“The economic response has to be more ambitious,” he said. Beaune said he hoped the EU’s 27 member states would ratify the recovery fund by May and that the 750 billion euros would be available from the summer. France is due to receive 40 billion euros under the scheme. EU governments are still submitting detailed spending plans for their share of the pot, and frustration is growing in Paris and some other capitals at the slow speed of disbursing the money.
In an interview published on Saturday, European Council President Charles Michel said he did not share the view held by some that the EU’s recovery fund was insufficient when compared with the U.S. spending plan.

Congress Would Supports A Fourth Stimulus Check
Plans for a fourth stimulus check are gaining support from Congress, Baller Alert reports. While many Americans still haven’t received their stimulus payment from the latest round of aid as part of the American Rescue Plan, a number of Democrats continue to push for a fourth check which would be recurring paymentsuntil the pandemic has waned.
Newsweek report that 64 lawmakers are urging for a fourth stimulus check with recurring checks to follow. Earlier this month, 11 Senators, including Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, called for Joe Biden to extend unemployment indefinitely on top of the signing off on more checks.
Third Stimulus Check Update: Supplemental Plus

Did you already get a third stimulus check? If so, would you like the IRS to send you even more money? Well, for some people, that’s exactly what’s going to happen, thanks to a new twist in the recently enacted American Rescue Plan Act that requires the IRS to send a supplemental payment to certain people who already received a third stimulus check. The IRS is calling these extra checks “plus-up” payments, and some lucky Americans could get them as early as next week.
Generally, supplemental payments will go to Americans who received a third stimulus check that was based on information taken from their 2019 federal income tax return or some other source, but who are eligible for a larger payment based on a 2020 return that is filed and/or processed later. This could happen, for example, if you had a new baby last year that is reported as a dependent for the first time on your 2020 return .
So, if you haven’t already filed your 2020 return, you may have an extra incentive to get it done quickly. Your 2020 return must be filed and processed by the IRS before August 16, 2021 if you want to get a supplemental payment. That means you still have plenty of time to act by why wait? The sooner you turn in your return, the sooner you’ll get your “plus-up” payment.

Stimulus Spending: Texas Education Push
‘$17.9 billion is at stake’, is the call to action from the Raise Your Hand Texas group, which states that the state’s schools missed out on over $1 billion of federal funds last spring when state leaders used those dollars to fill other budget holes. School districts have stepped up for students and families again and again over the last year, and now state lawmakers must step up for school districts.
They want Texans to help ensure that dollars intended for education stay in education – at every step of the budget process.

When You Could Receive Your Stimulus Check
The administration signed the American Rescue Plan into law ahead of the deadline. That is the day when the current $300 federal unemployment benefit bonus expires. Because Biden signed the stimulus package before the weekend, direct deposits could start arriving in bank accounts by March 17, and checks could start being mailed on March 24. With the second stimulus check, direct deposits were initiated within two business days and paper checks began hitting the mail within three business days. So a similar timeline could play out this time too.
That leaves an outside chance that people start receiving money even sooner. The White House press secretary Jen Psaki stated that stimulus payments could start arriving by the weekend.
New $1400 stimulus payments could hit direct deposit accounts “as early as this weekend,” White House press secretary just announced

Tax Relief For College Students
The American Rescue Plan provides relief to students with government and federal student loans by allowing students with forgiven loan debt to exclude the discharged debt from their taxable income for tax years 2021 through 2025.
This provision does not apply to loans made by private lenders.
The Biden Administration has also extended the suspension of federal student loan payments, interest, and collections through May 1, 2022.
The pause includes the following relief for eligible student loans:
- Suspension of loan payments
- 0% interest rate
- Stopped collections on defaulted loans
Note: You do not have to pay a fee to get 0% interest or suspended payments for federal student loans.

Moodys Chief Economist Mark Zandi Believes There Won’t Be A 4th Stimulus Check
Moodys chief economist Mark Zandi has said he believes that the Biden administration will not issue a fourth round of stimulus checks. His comments come ahead of Biden’s plan to unveil his $3trn Build Back Better plan, which will focus on infrastructure investment. Economists say Biden has shifted its focus to longer-term goals to overhaul the economy and revitalize the workforce.
These packages will be designed to address long-term economic problems such as infrastructure, climate change and the skewed income and wealth distribution.
I wouldnt consider these packages as fiscal stimulus, designed to support the economy in the short-term. I dont think there will be a fourth round of stimulus checks.
Can My Recovery Rebate Credit Be Garnished
The first and second rounds of stimulus checks authorized in March 2020 and December 2020 were protected from federal and state debt offsets, and even private debt collectors in some cases.
Unfortunately, the same protections don’t apply when these payments are claimed as the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 return. Remember, you can only claim the credit if you’re missing a stimulus check you qualify for, or you received too little based on your 2020 income and tax situation.
Your stimulus tax credit can be used to offset state or federal debts, like past-due child support . Your credit cannot be used to offset federal taxes you owe for prior years, according to guidance .
