Stimulus Check Update: $2000 Stimulus Checks Are Going Out
In addition to the $3200 paid out by the IRS since the beginning of the pandemic $1200 in March 2020, $600 in December 2020, and $1400 in March 2021 members of the Cherokee Nation are receiving an additional $2000 stimulus payment.
In addition to the $3200 paid out by the IRS since the beginning of the pandemic $1200 in March 2020, $600 in December 2020, and $1400 in March 2021 members of the Cherokee Nation are receiving an additional $2000 stimulus payment. The payment is slated to be split in two, with one thousand dollars paid this year and the other half paid twelve months from now.
As part of President Joe Bidens American Rescue Plan Act in March 2021, historic investments were made in Native American tribal governments to the tune of $20 billion. The Cherokee Nation, after the Navajo the second-largest Native American nation in the United States, received $1.8 billion in federal COVID-19 recovery funding. Few strings were attached to the funding it was decided that it could be spent however Cherokee leaders decided it would be of the most use.
While the $2000 payments are available for all Cherokees, it seems that registration might be required to receive one. The Cherokee Nation has opened its online Gadugi Portal, a centralized database intended to help Cherokees navigate the request process and apply for direct assistance.

When Will The New Stimulus Payments/checks Be Made
The IRS will be responsible for making these stimulus payment checks and Treasury Secretary Mnuchin, whose department oversees the IRS, said that payments go out within a week of the bill being formally approved. This means payments could hit bank accounts before the end of the year. Payments would be made in multiple batches and if all goes according to plan the first round of payments would begin on 12/28 . Processing will go until January 15th for Direct Deposit payments. Checks and Debit Cards will take until the end of January 2020 to get processed. The inclusion of the one-time stimulus payment however has also meant a cut in extra unemployment benefits that are also part of the overall package. More to come as the bill gets finalized and I will post updates. See this $600 stimulus update video for a quick summary as well.

A $3600 Tax Credit This Year
Some recipients, however, decided that for whatever reason they didnt need or want the six monthly checks upfront. In that case, theyre getting the child tax credit instead as a lump-sum benefit this year.
As a reminder, for every child under the age of 6, a family could get an expanded child tax credit of as much as $3,600. Meaning, if those families decided to forgo the monthly checks? They can still get that $3,600 this year as a tax credit, never mind that the Senate has still not acted to re-up the monthly payments this year.
The same is true, by the way, if any families eligible for the lower tier of the expanded child tax credit choose a lump-sum benefit this year. They could get up to $3,000, if they, too, decided to forgo the monthly payments last year.
$600 For Each Dependent Child

Aside from the smaller stimulus checks for adults, the other major change under the bill passed by Congress is the amount provided for dependent children: $600 for each child, up from $500 in the CARES Act.
However, the bill states the $600 would be directed toward each dependent child under age 17, which means that adults who are nevertheless claimed as dependents such as college students and older high school students wouldn’t qualify for the checks.
Adult dependents, such as seniors who are claimed as dependents on their adult children’s tax returns, also wouldn’t qualify for the checks. Excluding college students and other adult dependents was a matter of debate with the first round of checks, with some families arguing that older dependents should also qualify for the payments.
A family of two parents with two child dependents could receive up to $2,400 under the provision, lawmakers said.

New Jersey: $500 Rebate Checks
In fall 2021, Gov. Phil Murphy and the New Jersey state legislature approved budget measures to send one-time rebate checks of up to $500 to nearly 1 million families.
Now, Murphy has proposed earmarking an additional $53 million to send $500 payments to those who file taxes using a taxpayer identification number instead of a Social Security number. These newly eligible people would include nonresident and resident aliens, their spouses and dependents.
Who Is Eligible For The $2000 Direct Payment
All Pennsylvanians making $80,000 or less will be eligible to obtain the $2,000 stimulus.
“The program aims to help families still recovering economically from the COVID-19 pandemic or support them with covering pandemic-related costs and managing the current, everyday increasing cost of living,” Wolf said in a press release.

Are We Getting Another Stimulus Check In 2021
Whether we get another stimulus check in 2021 depends on how much momentum the proposals for more checks gain.
There are still some people whove not yet received the third stimulus check, but weve got a handy guide for what to do if youre missing your stimulus check payment. Its worth checking if youre eligible for most recent stimulus check as its worth up to $1,400 per person.
The IRS has reported that taxpayers whose direct-deposit information is on file should have seen their payments reach their bank accounts in April. Those who are waiting on paper checks and debit cards can expect to receive their funds in the coming weeks.
If you have received the third stimulus check and feel its too low, then take a look at our guide to the stimulus check calculator as that can show you what your own eligibility looks like. Keep in mind that there are a few factors that will affect the amount you are due or have received.

Who Is Likely To Be Eligible
If the next round of checks are anything like the last two rounds, how much you receive will ultimately be determined by the dollar amount of the checks.
Individuals earning up to $75,000 and married couples making $150,000 a year are eligible for stimulus checks the way theyre designed right now. After that, funds decrease by $5 for every $100 an individual made over that income line.
With $2,000 checks, individual Americans would be eligible for a partial check up until earning $115,000 a year, while married couples would earn a partial check up until having a joint income of $230,000. With $1,400 payments, that happens much sooner: up to $103,000 a year for individuals and $206,000 for married couples.
Lawmakers so far havent updated or changed eligibility for Economic Impact Payments , but thats not to say its out of the question.

Other Federal Assistance Possible
Since crossing the two million signatures milestone in May the petition is nearing its goal of three million which would make it one of the top Change.org campaigns. However, despite many American families still struggling in the aftermath of the covid-19 pandemic, which still continues, no new large scale federal stimulus checks appear to be coming.
If Democrats can get Bidens agenda over the finish line, households with children could expect more limited financial help. An extension of the enhanced Child Tax Credit for 2021 is included in the Build Back Better bill taking shape in the House. Originally Biden had called for the program, including the advance payments on the tax provision, to be continued through 2025. Although Democrats are not giving into Senator Joe Manchins demands that the credit be limited to those families earning less than $60,000 nor a work requirement, there is talk of shortening how long the measure is extended.
A Timeline Of Past Stimulus Checks
The pandemic stimulus payments started nearly two years ago.
Stimulus checks were first deposited in the spring of 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic was just beginning, driving up the unemployment rate and causing financial hardship for many. Individuals with income below $75,000 received $1,200 and couples earning below $150,000 received $2,400.

The Trump administration then in December 2020 $600 per individual taxpayer, $1,200 per married couple and an additional $600 for each child under the age of 17.
A third round came under the Biden administration in March 2021, giving $1,400 per individual and $2,800 per married couple, along with $1,400 per dependent this time regardless of age.

Is There A Fourth Stimulus Check Monthly $2000 Payment Depends On Congress As White House Focuses On Child Tax Credit Jobs
Whether Americans get a fourth COVID-19 stimulus check or more depends on Congress, which has not yet moved forward on progressives proposals to issue monthly $2,000 checks for the duration of the pandemic.
Thats the message delivered by the Biden administration this week when asked if Americans could expect another round of payments. As of Wednesday, the federal government has sent out more than 164 million stimulus payments of $1,400 since President Joe Biden signed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan in March. The expense has added up to $386 billion, and White House press secretary Jen Psaki alluded to stimulus check funding without mentioning figures during a news briefing this week.
Well see what members of Congress propose, but those are not free, Psaki said when pressed on the matter.
She noted that the American Rescue Plan included an historic temporary expansion of the Child Tax Credit, which will see monthly payments sent to parents starting in July. Parents will receive $3,000 per child aged 6 to 17 and $3,600 for every child under 6. Democratic leaders and the Massachusetts delegation have called for the expansion to remain permanent, while a new proposal from Biden would extend it to 2025.
At least 50 Democrats in the House of Representatives have similarly called for further, or ongoing, stimulus checks during the pandemic.
Djokovic Case Live Online

In the early days of the covid-19 pandemic a Denver-area restaurant owner Stephanie Bonin seeing her husband forced out of work and worried her own business would go under due to the pandemic decided to act. She began a Change.org petition calling on lawmakers in Washington to send Americans recurring monthly direct stimulus payments.
The federal government has approved three rounds of stimulus checks and ideas for continued aid to struggling households across the nation similar to Bonins have been floated by lawmakers. However, even as the petition approaches its stated goal of three million signatures and Democrats get closer to a deal for President Bidens Build Back Better plan, no new stimulus payments look set to be in the cards despite the covid-19 pandemic and the damage its done being far from over.

How The Third Stimulus Check Became Law
The American Rescue Plan was signed into law on March 11, authorizing a third round of stimulus checks that pay a maximum of $1,400 for millions of Americans. Targeted income limits, however, exclude individuals earning over $80,000 and joint tax filers making more than $160,000.
Biden said at the signing of the bill: this historic legislation is about rebuilding the backbone of this country and giving people in this nation working people and middle-class folks, the people who built the country a fighting chance. Thats what the essence of it is.
House Democrats had moved the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill to Bidens desk with a 220-211 vote just one day earlier. But progressives in the party expressed concern over Senate amendments that excluded higher-earning taxpayers from getting a stimulus payment.
Biden agreed to narrow income level requirements as a concession to moderate Senate Democrats who wanted to cap payments for individual taxpayers at $80,000 and joint tax filers at $160,000.
The Senate bill narrowly passed with a 50-49 vote on March 6 after an overnight marathon of disputed amendments and negotiations. A 50-50 tie between both parties was avoided because Senator Dan Sullivan could not vote after returning to Alaska for a family funeral.

Fourth Stimulus Check: $2000 A Month Stimulus Checks
Congress provided three stimulus checks to qualifying Americans in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Like the previous three stimulus checks, a fourth stimulus check would come from Congress. While Democrats control Congress, there has been no serious effort to date to pass legislation that would provide $2,000 a month stimulus checks or even a fourth stimulus check. While the previous three stimulus checks were one-time stimulus checks, this petition calls for monthly stimulus checks. What is the rationale for recurring stimulus checks? Supporters say that a single stimulus check is insufficient to help Americans who are struggling financially due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. This includes those who, like Bonin, work in the restaurant sector. Last year, Rep. Ilhan Omar and 55 Democrats sent a letter to President Joe Biden to support recurring stimulus checks. However, Biden doesnt support a fourth stimulus check or recurring stimulus checks. Currently, Biden is focused on Congress passing his legislative agenda, the Build Back Better plan, which doesnt include any stimulus checks.

Hawaii: $300 Rebate Payments
In January, Gov. David Ige proposed sending a tax rebate to every Hawaii taxpayer. Taxpayers earning less than $100,000 per year would receive $300, and those earning more than $100,000 per year would receive $100. Dependents are eligible for the rebate, too.
The Hawaii legislature has approved the rebate, but details for distribution havent been released. Payments may begin processing in late August, per the state Department of Taxation.
How Soon Would You Receive Another Check
You shouldnt expect a new stimulus payment in the near term. The timeline depends in part on how soon Ossoff and Warnock are sworn in and then how quickly lawmakers can strike a deal.
Biden will be inaugurated into office on Jan. 20, while the two new Georgia senators will have to be certified by the states election commission before they can be sworn in. After that, negotiations will take place, though another question is whether lawmakers might be occupied at that time with impeachment proceedings.
Slowing down the process might also be incorporating another round of checks into a larger relief package rather than a stand-alone bill, giving lawmakers more to work through. Bidens Jan. 8 remarks about also prioritizing jobless benefits and municipal aid indicate that hed at least like to see other measures included in the next round of aid.
Then comes the delivery process. More than two-thirds of second stimulus payments have already been delivered, according to The Wall Street Journal. That process kickstarted on Dec. 29 and will have to conclude, by law, on Jan. 15, as was specified by Congress in the $900 billion supplemental pandemic relief bill.
Thats record time compared with how long it took the IRS and Treasury to deliver the $1,200 checks that Congress approved in March. It doesnt, however, erase some of the problems that many Americans have still had to encounter when they track their second stimulus payments.

Pa Is Sitting On Billions In Stimulus Money Lawmakers May Actually Agree On A Plan To Spend Some Of It
The State Capitol in Harrisburg.
This story originally appeared on Spotlight PA.
As the June 30 deadline for the Pennsylvania legislature to pass a new budget approaches, support for spending some of the states billions in remaining stimulus money and surplus tax revenue is gaining bipartisan traction.
Discussions are preliminary, and top budget negotiators stressed on the record that nothing was yet concrete.
But lawmakers, lobbyists, and top staff pointed to a number of small bipartisan proposals percolating across the Capitol on issues from the environment to child care that could be the building blocks of a spending plan.
We move forward trying to identify areas of agreement first, and then well identify areas of disagreement and try and work through those, House Appropriations Committee Chair Stan Saylor said.
Every year, Pennsylvanias governor and legislature must agree on how to route tens of billions of dollars to education, criminal justice, economic development, and human services decisions that affect every Pennsylvanian.
No Vote For The Cash Act In The Senate
However, once the CASH Act hit the Senate floor, it quickly became apparent that it was stuck in the mud. As mentioned, Democratic senators made repeated requests this week for a vote on the bill. But, each time, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell or one of his Republican colleagues blocked the request. The CASH Act couldn’t get a vote on the Senate floor without Sen. McConnell’s consent, and Democrats were not able to change the majority leader’s mind and persuade him to allow the bill to move forward. On Wednesday, Sen. McConnell said the bill “has no realistic path to quickly pass the Senate.” That statement signaled Sen. McConnell’s reluctance to reverse course.
For Sen. McConnell and other Republicans opposing the bill, one of the primary reasons given for blocking a vote on the CASH Act was that the bill doesn’t target people in need. For example, on Thursday, Sen. McConnell said the bill would “send thousands of dollars to people who don’t need the help.” He further noted that “a family of five where the parents earn $250,000 and have not seen any income loss this past year” would receive a $5,000 stimulus check under the CASH Act. This, he said, was “socialism for rich people.” Sen. Thune described the bill as “a shotgun approach where a rifle makes a lot more sense.”
