New Child Tax Credit Payments Will Be Sent Out Tomorrow
The IRS will start sending out direct monthly payments as part of the new Child Tax Credit from 15 July, meaning that American families will start seen hundreds of dollars landing in their accounts regularly. The programme will provide a monthly payment worth up to $300 for children younger than six, and up to $250 for those aged between six and 17. The lucrative new support programme is expected to cover around 88% of American children and will hopefully halve childhood poverty over the next 12 months.
Will You Get A Fourth Stimulus Check
Probably not. Experts told CBS News there likely wont be the fourth round of stimulus payments as the economy continues to recover.
- So far, experts say its unlikely that another round of checks will be approved by lawmakers anytime soon, CBS News reported.
That said, more than 2 million people signed a new online petition on Change.org for stimulus check, so theres a push for it.
And Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders recently tweeted his support for another round of checks after the University of Michigan released results of a new analysis of stimulus checks that found the checks resulted in lower rates of financial instability, food shortages and depression, according to Yahoo Finance.

Keep An Eye Out For Child Tax Credit Payments
The IRS confirmed yesterday that around 35.2 million families across the United States had been sent a direct payment as part of the new Child Tax Credit, which came into effect on 15 July. The new system is unlike anything that had gone before and the White House is extremely optimistic about the impact that the programme could have.
However because the payments are new, some recipients are unsure what they will look like. If you’re not sure, check you bank account for a recent payment entitle ‘CHILDCTC’.
What Is The Latest On The Fourth Stimulus Check

The fate of the next round of direct payments has been a matter of much debate in the past months, with President Biden apparently eager to focus legislative efforts on other priorities. However there remains a real appetite for additional stimulus checks, specifically for a recurring payment, across the country.
An online petition which aimed for 3 million signatures is now nearing that mark, showing that the American people feel they need additional suppot from the federal government. There is just a few weeks left before Congress breaks for the summer, meaning that time is running out.

Child Tax Credit Brings Financial Relief
This report from CNN speaks to a family of six who have recently received the Child Tax Credit. Margaret McGaw Sulivan says that they will use the money to cover the cost of essentials like mortgage repayments and utility bills, adding that the household budget has been particularly stretched during the pandemic.
Yesterday millions of American families started to receive federal financial support in the form of direct payments to help covering the costs of raising children. The payments are an advance on the 2021 Child Tax Credit, a programme greatly expanded in President Biden’s American Rescue Plan.
The Child Tax Credit has been around since the late 1990s and was normally claimed by families as a single annual tax credit when they reported their tax burden. The overhaul of the Child Tax Credit created a monthly payment scheme whereby parents would receive installments on the credit throughout the year.
However this opens the possibility that some parents may have to repay them at a later date if their household income increases. Here’s everything you need to know…
What About People With Itins
You still need a work-authorizing Social Security Number to be eligible for this stimulus. However, there are important changes since the first round of stimulus checks.
- In the first stimulus rollout, any non-SSN holder on a joint return made everyone on that return ineligible. Big change: The new rounds of stimulus has corrected this problem. If you filed a joint return with a non-SSN holder, you are still eligible for the stimulus. See the below hypotheticals.
- Situation: A single tax filer has an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number but no Social Security number .
- This person is ineligible for the stimulus.

Thesis One: Further Stimulus Will Drive Prices Higher
Although the amount can be debated, there is no doubt that the $5 trillion released into the American economy during the pandemic had at least some effect on rising inflation. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, stimulus payments had a quantifiable effect of adding about 3% to the U.S. inflation rate by the end of 2021, and prices have only climbed higher since then.
Live Updates: Inflation and More Economic Updates
Bank balances in the U.S. soared as stimulus payments were being distributed, and they still remain higher than their pre-pandemic levels, according to both the JPMorgan Chase Institute and the Washington Post. This potentially suggests that any additional stimulus payments wont go to basic needs as much as discretionary purchases, which may drive prices higher still.
Will The Child Tax Credits Continue After 2021
Its possible. Per Al.com, President Joe Biden said he hopes the payments will become permanent for families, helping them survive through hardships.
- The new Child Tax Credit enacted in the American Rescue Plan is only for 2021 but President Bidens American Families Plan proposes extending the credit for years and years to come, the White House said, according to Al.com.

No Economic Recovery For Others
The pandemic has better illuminated the growing disparities across the broader economy. While many households have financially flourished during COVID, many others have fallen far behind where they were in early 2020. Much of the gap depends on whether wage earners could work remotely or had jobs that required them to be on-site.
Financial insecurity is still widespread, and the loss of a job and the loss of hours have been some of the main reasons. Ten percent of American adults reported a shortage of food in their household over the previous week, according to U.S. Census survey data from the middle of June. Approximately 16 percent of renters have fallen behind on their rent, including 20 percent of renters with children in their household. The federal eviction moratorium, set to expire on July 31, doesn’t forgive rent owed, it pushes the debt into the future. So a tidal wave of evictions may be coming soon. Millions are also struggling to pay their mortgage.
As of mid-June, over a quarter of American adults reported some difficulty keeping up with expenses in the prior week. A survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York determined that over 58 percent of those receiving a third stimulus check have or will use the money on consumption or paying down debt. That includes debt incurred during the pandemic. A Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll from last February listed food and housing costs as the second and third most popular uses of the then-upcoming stimulus.
Second $600 Stimulus Check Details
While the CAA legislation, under which the stimulus payments were funded, required that the second round of payments be issued by Jan. 15, 2021, some second round Economic Impact Payments may still be in the mail and delivered by the end of February. The IRS however has confirmed has issued all first and second Economic Impact Payments it is legally permitted to issue, based on information on file for eligible people.
Get My Payment was last updated on Jan. 29, 2021, to reflect the final payments and will not update again for first or second Economic Impact Payments.
If you havent yet received your payment and GMP is not showing payment details then the IRS is recommending you claim this via a recovery rebate credit in your 2020 tax return that you will file this year. Major tax software providers like Turbo Tax and Tax Act have updated their software to allow tax payers to claim their missing first or second stimulus payment as a recovery rebate with their 2020 tax filing.
Under the COVID-related Tax Relief Act of 2020, the IRS has delivered more than 147 million EIPs totaling over $142 billion. Due to the lower income qualification thresholds and smaller payments this was lower than the 160 million payments made via the first stimulus check.

A $2000 Stimulus Check Petition Is Close To 3 Million Signatures
A Change.org petition that has collected more than 2.9 million signatures calls on Congress to send out a fourth stimulus check of $2,000 for adults and $1,000 for children on a monthly basis for the remainder of the pandemic. The petition notes that “the recovery hasn’t reached many Americans” and points to the need for immediate checks and recurring payments so that “we can keep our heads above water.” While the Change.org petition is close to becoming one of the most popular on its website, whether it will have any effect is another question.
Summer Stimulus 202: Who Will Get These Direct Payments In June

Thousands of Americans to receive a payment
- SAM
Stimulus checks worth 850 dollars will be going out directly to residents in the state of Maine, United States, this summer in order to combat the effects of inflation.
All over the U.S., families are being hit hard by the rising rate of inflation that is a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The inflation rate did actually drop slightly in April, but it has not differed much from the 40-year high rate of March 2022.
Maine is no exception to the hard times and, in order to combat it, Governor Janet Mills has decided to give back half the state budget surplus in the form of direct payments.
“We have shown once again that through hard work, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents can come together to do what is right for Maine people – and that we can do so without the rancor or bitter partisanship that has divided Augusta in the past,” said Governor Mills.
“We may not be able to control inflation or global markets, but we can make sure that Maine people have what they need to grapple with these rising costs – and that is what we are doing. Today, I am here to say to Maine people: help is on the way. You are our greatest asset – and this budget delivers for you.”
Residents in the northeastern state will have until October 31, 2022, to file a 2021 state tax return and claim their direct payment.

Dems Push For Child Tax Credit Extension In New Reconciliation Budget
It seems that President Biden is maintaining his support for an extension to the new Child Tax Credit programme. He administration have proposed a new reconciliation package, worth around $4.1 trillion in total, to cover both the massive infrastrucuture bill and a number of other legislative priorities. Biden had attempted to find common ground with GOP lawmakers in recent months but has faced enormous pushback from key moderates who argue that the levels of spending are too high.
When Should I Get My Payment
The IRS was given hard and fast deadlines to send the two rounds of Economic Impact Payments out to American families. The first round of payments had to be sent out by December 31, 2020. The second round had to be sent out by January 15, 2021.
What this means: If you have not received the first or second round of payments yet, then you will not be getting them in advance. The good news is that you can still do something to get these payments. Read below.

What Gaos Work Shows
1. IRS can use data to tailor outreach efforts.
It was challenging for IRS and Treasury to get payments to some peopleespecially nonfilers, or those who are not required to file tax returns. These people were eligible for the payments for a couple of reasons:
- first, there was no earned income requirement, so Americans with no or very little income could receive economic relief and
- second, the payments were refundable tax credits, so eligible individuals can claim the full amount even if it exceeds what they owe in taxes.
In 2020, Treasury and IRS used other data to identify and reach out to around 9 million potentially eligible nonfilers. In May 2021, TIGTA identified potentially 10 million individuals eligible for payments, but IRS has no further plans to reach out to these individuals.
We recommended that Treasury and IRS use available data to develop an updated estimate of total eligible individuals which they could use to better tailor and redirect their ongoing outreach and communications efforts for similar tax credits.
2. Improved collaboration will also help outreach to underserved communities.
We recommended that Treasury and IRS focus on improving interagency collaboration and use data to assess the effectiveness of their efforts to educate more people about refundable tax credits and eligibility requirements.

Fourth Stimulus Check Approval: Here’s What It’ll Take
The White House hasn’t responded to any of the proposals for additional stimulus checks, and the general sentiment is that a fourth stimulus check isn’t likely. Economists have suggested we’ve already moved past the pandemic’s worst financial woes, although there are signs that Americans could still use relief.
Experts certainly seem in agreement that there won’t be a fourth stimulus check. The latest stimulus package, the American Rescue Plan, is “gonna be the last on that front,” Deutsche Bank senior U.S. economist Brett Ryan told Fortune . “No more checks.”
Ed Mills, Washington policy analyst at Raymond James, agreed, telling CNBC recently “I think its unlikely at this time. D.C. has largely started to pivot towards the recovery and an infrastructure bill.”
Many economists and financial experts are worried that the third stimulus checks have contributed to a growing inflation rate. In June 2021, the core inflation rate, stripped of energy and food prices, rose 4.5% at an annual rate vs. the Dow Jones estimate of 3.8%. The overall consumer price index rose at an annualized 5.4% rate in June.

Golden State Stimulus Checks Will Widen Eligibility Requirements
The first round of Golden State Stimulus checks was only sent to low-income residents, typically those who receive support from the state’s CalEITC programme. However, after reporting a record-breaking budget surplus on 2020-21 Gov. Gavin Newsom has announced the introduction of a new bill which will send stimulus checks to two-thirds of Californians.
The American Rescue Plan was passed in March and brought about a complete overhaul of the Child Tax Credit. Rather than being a non-fundable credit for those above a certain income, the credit is now fully refundable and is worth up to $3,600 per child for some families.
Before the changes made under the trillion-dollar stimulus legislation, the credit would be sent with a taxpayers refund and was only worth a maximum of $2,000 per child. So how much should you be getting from the Child Tax Credit? Use this handy calculator to find out…
